Pistol Classes

Students will be well grounded in the ‘Modern Technique" of the pistol, including marksmanship, gun handling, and mindset in this class. Through our systematic methodology training, students will achieve confidence, competence, new skills, and best of all, peace of mind around firearms. 

Students emerge stronger, more alert, and conditioned to respond appropriately to any threat.

The Basic Pistol includes five solid days of range work, lectures, and stress shooting scenarios.

This class focuses on movement. Students will move on and off the line as exercises will be done with different types of movements. Getting off the line of attack, shoot then move, move then shoot, continuous movement and moving targets highlight the week.

Concealed carry is optional to make the training more realistic to everyday life. Flashlight techniques are introduced. Students will learn to draw and shoot with support hand. Dozier drills are shot from a seated position and the “El Presidente” drill is done tactically. Students will experience realistic force-on-force scenarios.

Emphasis is on low light shooting and tactics. In this class, beginning on the 2nd day, students will start mid-day and train until well after dark giving plenty of low light to operate in. Heavy emphasis will be placed on integrating flashlight techniques into shooting and tactics.  

This class has a physical difficulty level of moderate. Students should be capable of   getting into and out of kneeling, sitting and prone positions numerous times each day.

At this advanced skill level, even very minor improvements in technique will lead to major increases in outcomes. 

Students will learn one handed manipulation and how to clear pistol malfunctions while physically impaired. Presentation speed and accuracy will be emphasized. Tactical problems will increase in complexity. 

Building on existing skill levels, acquiring new skills, ground fighting, less time, more targets, a faster pace, more force-on-force, more low-light exercises, and higher standards of proficiency makes this class a very rewarding experience.

Violence can find you anywhere. This class is designed around the specific tactics and challenges associated with locations such at home, office, vehicle, and public places such as restaurants and shopping centers as well as on the street.

This class will utilize both range and shooting from in and around vehicles and barriers. The week culminates with several force-on-force scenarios using simulations to reinforce the training and tactics covered.

While Alabama is a Constitutional Carry State, a CCW permit is still required for interstate reciprocity. This CCW class will prepare students on how to obtain an Alabama CCW as well as how to both physically and mentally prepare to carry a firearm. Students will experience a personal carry system lecture, gear selection, and range work.

Designed to prepare students for the real-world dynamics of sudden violent confrontation and attacks.

Do you have the skill and ability to retain your firearm when an attacker is within arm’s reach? Can you shoot effectively while delivering practical and effective self-defense techniques?

CQ blends empty hand self-defense, tactical mindset, and extreme close quarter pistol techniques into a proven system. Students will learn simple and effective self-defense techniques that will stop a sudden violent attack and give time and opportunity to access a firearm.

This class combines various aspects of all TFD's pistol classes with the added requisite of concealment. 

Various concealment systems will be discussed and demonstrated during this class. 

Emphasis will be on presenting the pistol at relatively short distances in a timely, smooth, and safe manner. The holster should be rigid enough to facilitate-holstering the pistol with one hand. 

No shoulder holsters will be allowed.

This class goes beyond the basics of the pistol and carbine and delves into working as a team with both weapons systems. Students will work as an individual and in a team. Vehicle bailouts, shooting on the move, team movement, emergency medical procedures, bounding/break contact, bounding over watch, and hostage drills will be covered.

This class has a difficulty rating of moderate. Students should be capable of getting into and out of kneeling, sitting and prone positions, getting into and out of vehicles numerous times and moving at a brisk pace around obstacles.

Response to Street Crimes will prepare students for violent encounters that happen in areas outside the home. Incidents such as road rage, the knockout game, armed robbery, sexual assault and violence of all kinds happen every day. 

In addition to building upon basic pistol skills, students will gain the ability to engage multiple targets in crowded environments, learn how to stack resources, handle emergency medical   issues and surveillance and counter surveillance techniques. We will cover the criminal attack cycle, hard pointing, exfiltration and the very important aspect of linking up with law enforcement following the incident.

This class focuses on tactics and techniques that apply to situations in and around a vehicle. The first two days are spent on the square range learning TFD's Doctrine. The next three days are spent learning how to employ tactics from in and around a vehicle. 

Methods and how to draw while seat belted in the car will be emphasized. Students will shoot from vehicles-both moving and stationary. Students will also learn how to fight your way out of and back into a vehicle.   

This class has a physical difficulty level of moderate. Students should be capable of getting into and out of kneeling, sitting and prone positions numerous times each day.

This All-Ladies pistol class is for those women who want to learn to be safe and to begin acquiring firearms skills. 

Ladies Pistol will provide women with the skills to manage their equipment safely and begin the learning process of protecting themselves and their loved ones.  Students will acquire essential self-defense skills with a handgun in a safe and supportive environment. Students will be introduced to the proper mindset with special attention and the opportunity to practice your skills in a variety of situations.

Upon completion of the “Ladies’-Only Pistol” class, students will be able to recognize and avoid or deal with a real-life threats. Most women record this experience as “life changing” with newfound confidence and an identifiable loss of fear of firearms.
